The Personal Assistant to the Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Kingsley Ayo Ikodudu has provided clarification on the workings of constituency project funding, stressing the need for accurate information in public discourse.

Ikodudu, in a statement addressed to Comrade Ovie David Mukoro, acknowledged that citizens have the right to question representation and demand accountability, noting that such engagement is essential for sustainable development.

However, he described as misleading the claim that constituency project funds are released or executed at the rate of ₦1 billion monthly, explaining that such assertions do not reflect the realities of the legislative and budgetary process.

According to him, constituency projects are strictly tied to the federal budget cycle and appropriations, emphasizing that they are neither personal funds nor disbursed directly to lawmakers on a monthly basis.

“Members of the House of Representatives do not receive monthly allocations like Governors or Local Government Chairmen. Their role is limited to nominating and advocating for projects within an approved budget framework, while implementation and fund disbursement are handled by relevant government agencies,” he stated.

Ikodudu further recalled that during an interactive session with Isoko youths and the Isoko Development Union (IDU) in March 2025, the lawmaker, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, disclosed that the capital project envelope for members had been increased from ₦200 million to ₦1 billion.

He noted that based on this provision, several projects were nominated, alongside additional interventions facilitated through strategic lobbying, bringing the total value of projects attracted to the constituency to approximately ₦4 billion.

The aide, however, pointed out that delays in funding at the federal level have affected project execution timelines, adding that such challenges are beyond the control of legislators, as they do not oversee implementation.

He maintained that since his inauguration, Hon. Ukodhiko has remained committed to delivering development through project facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and accessibility to constituents.

Ikodudu urged stakeholders and members of the public to ensure that criticisms and conversations around governance are anchored on facts, objectivity, and constructive engagement, rather than misinformation or attempts to discredit public office holders.
